Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
This piece will reflect myth of photographic truth, remediation, and remix culture. It will look like an actual mural, but since it isn’t which connects to myth of photographic truth. It is also remediated because I will make photographs and make them look like paintings. It also connects to remix culture because I am taking photos and paintings from many different artists from now and in history and putting them all together to create new meaning. I used Photoshop to cut myself out of the background of the original picture, isolate the flowers and assemble them together. I, then, put this into Illustrator and used the Pen Tool and Live Paint on my head and hair, so it looks more remediated. Then, I used the Blob Brush Tool to make the rest of my body in the flowers. I went go back into Photoshop, create a new file 8” x 10” and size the wall photo onto the background an d duplicated that layer and used a layer mask to isolate the windows. By turning the under layer of the wall into a Smart Object, I was able to put a stone texture onto the wall without putting the texture on the windows because of the other layer. Then, I sized the Illustrator file onto the wall, used a blending mode, cut the windows out using layer masks, and put the same wall texture on that layer. Lastly, I took a photo of a painting of a bouquet of flowers and made it look like I am holding the flowers using layer masks and the same wall texture.
